The department introduced a new branch of computer Science & Engineering with the name Data Science (DS) to meet with the latest advancement in Statistics and Data Analysis on par with the industrial needs. Data Science is a new branch introduced for the year 2021 in Ravindra College of Engineering for Women with an intake of 60.

Data science is an interdisciplinary field that uses scientific methods, processes, algorithms and systems to extract knowledge and insights from structured and unstructured data, and apply knowledge and actionable insights from data across a broad range of application domains

Data science, or data-driven science, uses big data and machine learning to interpret data for decision-making purposes. The disciplinary areas that make up the data science field include mining, statistics, machine learning, analytics, and programming. There are various industries like banking, finance, manufacturing, transport, e-commerce, education, etc. that use data science.
